Ted Marchibroda was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1961 to 1998, finishing his career as the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens. Over his thirty-six years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 283-241-10. During his career he was a head coach for twelve seasons, first with the Baltimore Colts. He led the Colts for nine seasons, compiling a record of 71-67-0. He was fired from the Colts on Friday, December 28, 1979. His next head coaching stint was with the Baltimore Ravens from 1996 to 1998, as he led the team to a 16-31-1 record. He was fired from the Ravens on Monday, December 28, 1998. During his entire head coaching career, his two teams combined for a record of 87-98-1 across twelve seasons including going 2-4-0 in the playoffs.
Career Awards
Marchibroda won the NFL's Coach of the Year award in 1975 after guiding the Colts to a 10-4-0 record and a a berth in the playoffs. During his time as head coach and offensive coordinator he coached six players to award-winning seasons. As the offensive coordinator for the Bills Thurman Thomas won AP Offensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player. As the head coach for the Ravens Peter Boulware won AP Defensive Rookie of the Year. As the head coach for the Colts Jim Harbaugh won Comeback Player of the Year, Marshall Faulk won AP Offensive Rookie of the Year, and Bert Jones won AP Offensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player. As the offensive coordinator for the Redskins Larry Brown won AP Offensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player.
