Career Summary
Neill Armstrong was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1962 to 1989, finishing his career as the research and development of the Dallas Cowboys. Over his twenty-two years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 186-137-1. He was the head coach of the Chicago Bears from 1978 until the 1981 season, during which time the Bears went 30-34-0. During his career he was a head coach for four seasons.
Career Awards
During the 1971 season as the defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings he coached Alan Page to the Most Valuable Player and AP Defensive Player of the Year.

Before he was a head coach, Armstrong served as an assistant coach for Pop Ivy and Bud Grant. Eight of these years were spent on Grant's coaching staff. One assistant coach from his coaching staffs, Buddy Ryan, was eventually hired as a head coach. After coaching on Neill Armstrong's coaching staff, he was the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals for seven seasons where he combined for a regular season record of 55-55-1 and 0-3 in the playoffs.

Armstrong was born on Tuesday, March 9, 1926 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. He died on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the age of 90.
