Career Summary
Wade Phillips was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1976 to 2019, finishing his career as the defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams. Over his forty-two years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 368-290-2. During his career he was a head coach for nine seasons, first with the Denver Broncos. He led the Broncos for two seasons, compiling a record of 16-16-0. He was fired from the Broncos on Friday, December 30, 1994. His next head coaching stint was with the Buffalo Bills from 1998 to 2000, as he led the team to a 29-19-0 record. He was fired from the Bills on Monday, January 8, 2001. His third head coach placement began in 2007 with the Dallas Cowboys. He coached them for four seasons and the team had a 39-25-0 record during his tenure. He was fired from the Cowboys on Monday, November 8, 2010. During his entire head coaching career, his three teams combined for a record of 84-60-0 across nine seasons including going 1-4-0 in the playoffs.

As the defensive coordinator for the Texans J.J. Watt won AP Defensive Player of the Year. As the defensive coordinator for the Rams Aaron Donald won AP Defensive Player of the Year (2).
