The Houston Oilers' twenty-first season was in 1980, and it was the sixth season Bum Phillips served as the head coach of the team. They finished the year 11-5-0 in the regular season but they lost their first playoff game to the Oakland Raiders 27-7. At the end of the season, Earl Campbell was awarded with the AP Offensive Player of the Year award.
