The San Diego Chargers' forty-seventh season was in 2006, and it was the fifth season Marty Schottenheimer served as the head coach of the team. They finished the year 14-2-0 in the regular season but they lost their first playoff game to the New England Patriots 24-21. At the end of the season LaDainian Tomlinson earned Walter Payton Man of the Year and AP Offensive Player of the Year.
