The San Diego Chargers' forty-fifth season was in 2004, and it was the third season Marty Schottenheimer served as the head coach of the team. The Chargers played their home games at Qualcomm Stadium. They finished the year 12-4-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the AFC West, but they lost their first playoff game to the New York Jets 20-17. At the end of the season Marty Schottenheimer earned Coach of the Year and Drew Brees earned Comeback Player of the Year.
