The New York Jets' fiftieth season was in 2009, playing their home games at Giants Stadium. During the offseason they hired Rex Ryan to lead the team. Ryan previously was the assistant head coach/defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens and had twelve years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the year 9-7-0 in the regular season and 2-1 in the playoffs, eventually losing to the Indianapolis Colts 30-17.
