The New York Jets' fiftieth season was in 2009. During the offseason they hired Rex Ryan to lead the team. Ryan previously was the assistant head coach/defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens and had twelve years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the year 9-7-0 in the regular season and 2-1 in the playoffs, eventually losing to the Indianapolis Colts 30-17.
