The Indianapolis Colts' sixty-first season was in 2009, playing their home games at Lucas Oil Stadium. During the offseason they hired Jim Caldwell to lead the team. Caldwell previously was the quarterbacks coach of the Indianapolis Colts and had eight years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the year 14-2-0 in the regular season and 2-1 in the playoffs, eventually losing to the New Orleans Saints 31-17.
