The Indianapolis Colts' fifty-seventh season was in 2009, playing their home games at Lucas Oil Stadium. During the offseason they promoted Jim Caldwell to lead the team. Caldwell previously was the quarterbacks coach of the Indianapolis Colts and had eight years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the year 14-2-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the AFC South, and 2-1 in the playoffs, eventually losing to the New Orleans Saints 31-17.
