2009 was the sixty-first season for the Indianapolis Colts. During the offseason they hired Jim Caldwell to lead the team. Caldwell previously was the quarterbacks coach of the Indianapolis Colts and has a total of eight years of coaching in the NFL. They finished the season 14-2-0 in the regular season and 2-1 in the playoffs eventually losing to the New Orleans Saints 31-17. At the conclusion of the season Peyton Manning was awarded with the Most Valuable Player.
