2009 was the forty-third season for the New Orleans Saints and the third season for Sean Payton as the head coach of the Saints. They finished the season 13-3-0 in the regular season and 3-0 in the playoffs eventually winning the NFL championship against the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 for the team's first championship. At the conclusion of the season Drew Brees was awarded with the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player.
