Career Summary
Gregg Williams was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1990 to 2020, finishing his career as the defensive coordinator of the New York Jets. Over his thirty years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 230-249-1. He was the head coach of the Buffalo Bills from 2001 until the 2003 season, during which time the Bills went 17-31-0. During his career he was a head coach for three seasons. Williams was not retained by the Bills with the conclusion of his initial three year contract.
Career Awards
As the defensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans he coached one player to an award-winning season: Jevon Kearse, AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1999. As the defensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams he coached one player to an award-winning season: Aaron Donald, AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2014.
