The New Orleans Saints' thirty-fourth season was in 2000, playing their home games at Louisiana Superdome. During the offseason they hired Jim Haslett to lead the team. Haslett previously was the defensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers and had seven years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the year 10-6-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the NFC West, and 1-1 in the playoffs, eventually losing to the Minnesota Vikings 34-16. At the end of the season Jim Haslett earned Coach of the Year and Joe Johnson earned Comeback Player of the Year.
