2000 was the sixty-fifth season for the St. Louis Rams. During the offseason they hired Mike Martz to lead the team. Martz previously was the offensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams and has a total of eight years of coaching in the NFL. They finished the season 10-6-0 in the regular season. However, they lost their first playoff game to the New Orleans Saints 31-28. At the conclusion of the season one different people were recognized for their successful seasons: Marshall Faulk, AP Offensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player.
