2005 was the eleventh season for the Carolina Panthers and the third season for John Fox as the head coach of the Panthers. They finished the season 11-5-0 in the regular season and 2-1 in the playoffs eventually losing to the Seattle Seahawks 34-14. At the conclusion of the season Steve Smith was awarded with the Comeback Player of the Year.
