1986 was the sixty-second season for the New York Giants and the third season for Bill Parcells as the head coach of the Giants. They finished the season 14-2-0 in the regular season and 3-0 in the playoffs eventually winning the NFL championship against the Denver Broncos 39-20 for the team's seventh championship. At the conclusion of the season three different people were recognized for their successful seasons: Bill Parcells, Coach of the Year; Lawrence Taylor, AP Defensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player; and Phil Simms, Super Bowl Most Valuable Player.
