During his career, he won the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1981, playing for the New York Giants; the AP Defensive Player of the Year in 1981, playing for the New York Giants; the AP Defensive Player of the Year in 1982, playing for the New York Giants; the Most Valuable Player in 1986, playing for the New York Giants; and the AP Defensive Player of the Year in 1986, playing for the New York Giants.
