1990 was the thirty-first season for the Houston Oilers. During the offseason they hired Jack Pardee to lead the team. Pardee brought six years of experience as a head coach. They finished the season 9-7-0 in the regular season. However, they lost their first playoff game to the Cincinnati Bengals 41-14. At the conclusion of the season Warren Moon was awarded with the AP Offensive Player of the Year.
