Biography
Career Summary
Dick Nolan was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1962 to 1990, finishing his career as the defensive backs coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Over his twenty-eight years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 182-220-8. During his career he was a head coach for eleven seasons, first with the San Francisco 49ers. He led the 49ers for eight seasons, compiling a record of 54-53-5. His next head coaching stint was with the New Orleans Saints from 1978 to 1980, as he led the team to a 16-32-0 record. He was fired from the Saints on Wednesday, November 26, 1980. During his entire head coaching career, his two teams combined for a record of 70-85-5 across eleven seasons including going 2-3-0 in the playoffs.

As the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers he coached two players to award-winning seasons: Bruce Taylor, AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1970; John Brodie, Most Valuable Player in 1970.
