The San Francisco 49ers' twenty-sixth season was in 1971, and it was the fourth season Dick Nolan served as the head coach of the team. The 49ers played their home games at Candlestick Park. They finished the year 9-5-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the NFC West, and 1-1 in the playoffs, eventually losing to the Dallas Cowboys 14-3.
