1990 was the forty-fifth season for the San Francisco 49ers and the first season for George Seifert as the head coach of the 49ers. They finished the season 14-2-0 in the regular season and 1-1 in the playoffs eventually losing to the New York Giants 15-13. At the conclusion of the season Joe Montana was awarded with the Most Valuable Player.
