2006 was the fifth season for the Houston Texans. During the offseason they hired Gary Kubiak to lead the team. Kubiak previously was the offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos and has a total of twelve years of coaching in the NFL. They finished the season 6-10-0, 4-4-0 at home and 2-6-0 on the road. At the conclusion of the season DeMeco Ryans was awarded with the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year.
