Charley Winner was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1954 to 1979, finishing his career as the defensive backs coach of the Cincinnati Bengals. Over his twenty-five years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 180-152-8. During his career he was a head coach for seven seasons, first with the St. Louis Cardinals. He led the Cardinals for five seasons, compiling a record of 35-30-5. His next head coaching stint was with the New York Jets from 1974 to 1975, as he led the team to a 10-18-0 record. During his entire head coaching career, his two teams combined for a record of 45-48-5 across seven seasons.
