2002 was the twenty-seventh season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During the offseason they hired Jon Gruden to lead the team. During his time in the NFL he was head coach for four years. They finished the season 12-4-0 in the regular season and 3-0 in the playoffs eventually winning the NFL championship against the Oakland Raiders 48-21 for the team's first championship. At the end of the season Derrick Brooks earned AP Defensive Player of the Year and Dexter Jackson earned Super Bowl Most Valuable Player.
