The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' twenty-seventh season was in 2002, playing their home games at Raymond James Stadium. During the offseason they hired Jon Gruden to lead the team. During his time in the NFL he was head coach for four years. They finished the year 12-4-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the NFC South, and 3-0 in the playoffs eventually winning the NFL championship against the Oakland Raiders 48-21, the team's first championship win. At the end of the season Derrick Brooks earned AP Defensive Player of the Year and Dexter Jackson earned Super Bowl Most Valuable Player.
