2002 was the sixty-ninth season for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the eleventh season for Bill Cowher as the head coach of the Steelers. They finished the season 10-5-1 in the regular season and 1-1 in the playoffs eventually losing to the Tennessee Titans 34-31. At the conclusion of the season Tommy Maddox was awarded with the Comeback Player of the Year.
