The Atlanta Falcons' eighteenth season was in 1983, playing their home games at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. During the offseason they hired Dan Henning to lead the team. Henning previously was the assistant head coach of the Washington Redskins and had eight years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the season 7-9-0, 4-4-0 at home and 3-5-0 on the road. At the end of the season, Billy Johnson was awarded with the Comeback Player of the Year award.
