The Miami Dolphins' eighteenth season was in 1983, and it was the fourteenth season Don Shula served as the head coach of the team. They finished the year 12-4-0 in the regular season but they lost their first playoff game to the Seattle Seahawks 27-20. At the end of the season, Doug Betters was awarded with the AP Defensive Player of the Year award.
