The Miami Dolphins' eighteenth season was in 1983, and it was the fourteenth season Don Shula served as the head coach of the team. The Dolphins played their home games at Miami Orange Bowl. They finished the year 12-4-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the AFC East, but they lost their first playoff game to the Seattle Seahawks 27-20. At the end of the season, Doug Betters was awarded with the AP Defensive Player of the Year award.
