Biography
Career Summary
Jack Christiansen was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1959 to 1983, finishing his career as the secondary coach of the Atlanta Falcons. Over his sixteen years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 94-127-4. He was the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers from 1964 until the 1967 season, during which time the 49ers went 24-29-3. During his career he was a head coach for four seasons.
Christiansen was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1970 after his playing career.

Before he was a head coach, Christiansen served as an assistant coach for Red Hickey, Paul Wiggin, Jack Patera, and Dan Henning. During this time, he coached for five years for Red Hickey and Jack Patera. One assistant coach from his coaching staffs, Bill Johnson, was eventually hired as a head coach. After coaching on Jack Christiansen's coaching staff, he was the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals for three seasons where he combined for a regular season record of 22-22-0 and 0-0 in the playoffs.

Christiansen was born on Thursday, December 20, 1928. He died on Sunday, June 29, 1986 at the age of 57.
