The Green Bay Packers' fifty-first season was in 1971, playing their home games at Lambeau Field. During the offseason they hired Dan Devine to lead the team. Devine had never previously coached in the NFL in any capacity before the 1971 season. They finished the season 4-8-2, 3-3-1 at home and 1-5-1 on the road. At the end of the season, John Brockington was awarded with the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
