The San Diego Chargers' forty-seventh season was in 2006, and it was the fifth season Marty Schottenheimer served as the head coach of the team. The Chargers played their home games at Qualcomm Stadium. He was fired from the Chargers on Monday, February 12, 2007. They finished the year 14-2-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the AFC West, but they lost their first playoff game to the New England Patriots 24-21. At the end of the season LaDainian Tomlinson earned Walter Payton Man of the Year and AP Offensive Player of the Year.
