1996 was the second season for the Carolina Panthers and the first season for Dom Capers as the head coach of the Panthers. They finished the season 12-4-0 in the regular season and 1-1 in the playoffs eventually losing to the Green Bay Packers 30-13. At the conclusion of the season Dom Capers was awarded with the Coach of the Year.
