The Houston Oilers' first season was in 1960, playing their home games at Jeppesen Stadium. During the offseason they hired Lou Rymkus to lead the team. Rymkus previously was the offensive line coach of the Los Angeles Rams and had six years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the regular season 10-4-0 and continued to the postseason. They faced the Los Angeles Chargers and won 24-16, clinching the AFL championship for the 1960 season.
