The Dallas Texans' first season was in 1960, playing their home games at Cotton Bowl. During the offseason they hired Hank Stram to lead the team. Stram had never previously coached in the AFL in any capacity before the 1960 season. They finished the season 8-6-0, 5-2-0 at home and 3-4-0 on the road. At the end of the season, Abner Haynes was awarded with the AP AFL Player of the Year award.
