1989 was the thirtieth season for the Houston Oilers and the fourth season for Jerry Glanville as the head coach of the Oilers. They finished the season 9-7-0 in the regular season. However, they lost their first playoff game to the Pittsburgh Steelers 26-23. At the conclusion of the season Warren Moon was awarded with the Man of the Year.
