The Minnesota Vikings' twenty-ninth season was in 1989, and it was the fourth season Jerry Burns served as the head coach of the team. The Vikings played their home games at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. They finished the year 10-6-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the NFC Central, but they lost their first playoff game to the San Francisco 49ers 41-13. At the end of the season, Keith Millard was awarded with the AP Defensive Player of the Year award.
