Career Summary
Mike Martz was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1992 to 2011, finishing his career as the offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears. Over his nineteen years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 148-155-1. He was the head coach of the St. Louis Rams from 2000 until the 2005 season, during which time the Rams went 57-39-0. During his career he was a head coach for six seasons. He was fired from the Rams on Monday, January 2, 2006.
Career Awards
During his time as head coach and offensive coordinator he coached two players to award-winning seasons. As the offensive coordinator for the Rams Kurt Warner won Most Valuable Player and Marshall Faulk won AP Offensive Player of the Year. As the head coach for the Rams Kurt Warner won Most Valuable Player and Marshall Faulk won AP Offensive Player of the Year (2) and Most Valuable Player.

Before he was a head coach, Martz served as an assistant coach for Chuck Knox, Rich Brooks, Norv Turner, Dick Vermeil, Rod Marinelli, Mike Nolan, and Lovie Smith. Three of these years were spent on Knox's coaching staff. One assistant coach from his coaching staffs, Lovie Smith, was eventually hired as a head coach. After coaching on Mike Martz's coaching staff, he was the head coach of the Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Houston Texans for twelve seasons where he combined for a regular season record of 92-100-1 and 3-3 in the playoffs.
