The Buffalo Bisons' first season was in 1946. During the offseason they hired Red Dawson to lead the team. Dawson had never previously coached in the AAFC in any capacity before the 1946 season. They finished the season 3-10-1, 2-4-1 at home and 1-6-0 on the road.
