The Chicago Rockets' first season was in 1946. During the offseason they hired Pat Boland to lead the team. Boland had never previously coached in the AAFC in any capacity before the 1946 season. They finished the season 5-6-3, 3-3-1 at home and 2-3-2 on the road.
