The Cleveland Browns' first season was in 1946, playing their home games at Cleveland Stadium. During the offseason they hired Paul Brown to lead the team. Brown had never previously coached in the AAFC in any capacity before the 1946 season. They finished the regular season 12-2-0 and continued to the postseason. They faced the New York Yankees and won 14-9, clinching the AAFC championship for the 1946 season.
