The New York Jets' forty-first season was in 2000, playing their home games at Giants Stadium. During the offseason they promoted Al Groh to lead the team. Groh previously was the linebackers coach of the New York Jets and had twelve years of coaching experience in the NFL. He resigned from the Jets on Sunday, December 31, 2000. They finished the season 9-7-0, 5-3-0 at home and 4-4-0 on the road.
