The Detroit Lions' thirty-ninth season was in 1968, and it was the second season Joe Schmidt served as the head coach of the team. The Lions played their home games at Tiger Stadium. They finished the season 4-8-2, 1-4-2 at home and 3-4-0 on the road. At the end of the season, Earl McCullouch was awarded with the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
