Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers 9 to 17

Sunday, September 10, 2017, Week 1

Week 1 featured a clash between the defending NFC West champions, the Seattle Seahawks, at the defending NFC North champions, the Green Bay Packers. In a game dominated by defense, the Packers emerged victorious 17-9 to start the season 1-0.

The game started with nine of the first ten drives ending in punts featuring about a hundred yards of offense between them. It wasn’t until the last play of the first half that the Seahawks broke the scoreless tie with a 33-yard field goal. During the first half, the Seahawks also intercepted an Aaron Rodgers pass on the second drive of the game, his first interception in his previous 251 pass attempts (a career high).

In the third quarter, the defense continued to shine for both teams. On the second drive of the game, the Packers defensive tackle Mike Daniels strip-sacked quarterback Russell Wilson, recovered by linebacker Kyler Fackrell on the Seahawks six-yard line. The Packers scored a touchdown on the next play, and led the rest of the game.
