Biography

Career Summary

Tom Cable was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 2006 to 2021, finishing his career as the offensive line coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Over his sixteen years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 130-126-1. He was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders from 2009 until the 2010 season, during which time the Raiders went 13-19-0. During his career he was a head coach for two seasons. He was fired from the Raiders on Wednesday, January 5, 2011.

Before he was a head coach, Cable served as an assistant coach for Jim L. Mora (Jr.), Lane Kiffin, Pete Carroll, and Jon Gruden. Seven of these years were spent on Carroll's coaching staff. One assistant coach from his coaching staffs, Hue Jackson, was eventually hired as a head coach. After coaching on Tom Cable's coaching staff, he was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders and Cleveland Browns for four seasons where he combined for a regular season record of 11-44-1 and 0-0 in the playoffs.
