The Houston Oilers' third season was in 1962, playing their home games at Jeppesen Stadium. During the offseason they hired Pop Ivy to lead the team. Ivy brought four years of experience as a head coach. They finished the year 11-3-0 in the regular season but they lost their first playoff game to the Dallas Texans 20-17.
