Career Summary
Dave Wannstedt was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1989 to 2013, finishing his career as the special teams coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Over his nineteen years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 142-162-0. During his career he was a head coach for eleven seasons, first with the Chicago Bears. He led the Bears for six seasons, compiling a record of 40-56-0. He was fired from the Bears on Monday, December 28, 1998. His next head coaching stint was with the Miami Dolphins from 2000 to 2004, as he led the team to a 45-35-0 record. He resigned from the Dolphins on Wednesday, November 10, 2004. Wannstedt resigned from the Dolphins halfway through the 2004 season. During his entire head coaching career, his two teams combined for a record of 85-91-0 across eleven seasons including going 2-3-0 in the playoffs.
