The San Francisco 49ers' seventieth season was in 2015, playing their home games at Levi's Stadium. During the offseason they promoted Jim Tomsula to lead the team. Tomsula previously was the defensive line coach of the San Francisco 49ers and had eight years of coaching experience in the NFL. He was fired from the 49ers on Sunday, January 3, 2016. They finished the season 5-11-0, 4-4-0 at home and 1-7-0 on the road. At the end of the season, Anquan Boldin was awarded with the Walter Payton Man of the Year award.
