The Oakland Raiders' twentieth season was in 1979, playing their home games at Oakland–Alameda County Coliseum. During the offseason they promoted Tom Flores to lead the team. Flores previously was the wide receivers coach of the Oakland Raiders and had eight years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the season 9-7-0, 6-2-0 at home and 3-5-0 on the road.
