The Los Angeles Raiders' twenty-ninth season was in 1988, playing their home games at Oakland–Alameda County Coliseum. During the offseason they hired Mike Shanahan to lead the team. Shanahan previously was the offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos and had four years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the season 7-9-0, 3-5-0 at home and 4-4-0 on the road.
