2001 was the forty-second season for the New England Patriots and the first season for Bill Belichick as the head coach of the Patriots. They finished the season 11-5-0 in the regular season and 3-0 in the playoffs eventually winning the NFL championship against the St. Louis Rams 20-17 for the team's sixth championship. At the conclusion of the season Tom Brady was awarded with the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player.
