The New York Giants' fifty-seventh season was in 1981, and it was the second season Ray Perkins served as the head coach of the team. They finished the year 9-7-0 in the regular season and 1-1 in the playoffs, eventually losing to the San Francisco 49ers 38-24. At the end of the season Lawrence Taylor earned AP Defensive Rookie of the Year and AP Defensive Player of the Year.
