The Green Bay Packers' thirty-ninth season was in 1959, playing their home games at New City Stadium. During the offseason they hired Vince Lombardi to lead the team. Lombardi previously was the offensive coordinator of the New York Giants and had five years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the season 7-5-0, 4-2-0 at home and 3-3-0 on the road. At the end of the season, Vince Lombardi was awarded with the Coach of the Year award.
