1959 was the twenty-eighth season for the Washington Redskins. During the offseason they hired Mike Nixon to lead the team. Nixon previously was the assistant coach of the Chicago Cardinals in 1952 and has a total of seven years of coaching in the NFL. They finished the season 3-9-0, 2-4-0 at home and 1-5-0 on the road.
